Broadening the On-ramp for Women-run Companies

Tuesday Takeaways 07.14.20 | A Trend Toward More World-Changing Startups?

Over the past few months, I've seen an increasing number of pitches from startups that are tackling the world’s biggest environmental and social problems like climate change, gun violence, and the mental health crisis. I'm also finding that I’m becoming more determined to invest in world-changing startups.

Is this a trend?

Entrepreneurs, are you more inspired to start businesses to solve the challenges of our time?

Investors, are you more inspired to invest in those businesses?

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Listen of the Week: World War One - The Documentary Podcast
I watched 1917 this weekend and realized that I know very little about World War I. I searched for some podcast episodes on the topic and came across this episode from 2014. It talks about how racism affected recruitment, military strategies, suffering on both the Central and the Allied sides, and the outcome of the war. It’s enlightening in the context of our current conversation on racial equality and historical figures.

I post my most interesting weekly thoughts, coupled with the best of my listening and reading list, and occasional MergeLane Portfolio news every Tuesday. To follow Tuesday Takeaways and our occasional blog posts, you can subscribe to our blog or follow me on twitter.
